Music has always been a big part of my life. Since I was five I have been playing some sort of instrument, but in recent years the piano has been what has interested me the most. Now, since I am doing the IB, I have quit taking lessons, but I do try as hard as I can playing in my sparetime. It is important to maintain developed skills.
Classical music and figuration (if that makes sense in English) have been the two main genres I have been playing. Now in the aftertime I wish that I could have played more jazz or blues, because it requires more rythm and that kind of music can be used for a wider range of occasions than others.
People say that the best pianists in the world have been educated in classical music first. Then, after some years they have gradually started playing jazz, blues or other rythmic genres and then they start playing more rock-inspired music. An example of this is Matthew Bellamy from Muse.
I have recorded some videos of the pieces I have been playing ad posted them on youtube. An example of this is “Wedding Song” or “Bryllupssang” in Norwegian by Norwegian composer Rolf Løvland. You can watch it by following this link.
